The Process

The process for hiring works like this: First we need a good sense of what the job is, any company benefits and what you’d like to see accomplished in that job.

Then we’ll have you do a Job PRO which tells the personality traits of this job. That sets the standard by which we will measure all candidates when they complete a Predictive Index (PI), a valid and unbiased personality instrument.

HR LINK will write the advertisement for you based on what you are looking for. When you have a stack of resumes, HR LINK can help you screen them by selecting the most qualified candidates, do mini phone screens and get PI’s on the top candidates. You may then bring in only the best candidates to interview.

If you are within a 60 mile radius of Des Moines, Iowa, HR LINK will interview the candidates with you and you will have the opportunity to ask all additional questions. That way we assure the interview is conducted in a legal, open-ended manner to elicit all of the candidate’s background.

HR LINK will check references for you, delving into whatever concerns we might have on the top candidates. Then you choose the hire best suited for you.

Expected Benefits

By using HR LINK for your hiring, you will gain:

  • Thorough reference checks done on the candidates (something most employers never even try to do!).
  • The closest match of the Job PRO and PI. The PI offers extremely good and concise advice for managing the person after they are hired.

FEES

If you are interested in the creation of a professional ad and using the Predictive Index only, the charge is:  $100 for the ad and the Job PRO (a very easy form for you to complete). We also do your own PI for free as that lets HR LINK know what is important to you.

The first candidate PI is $75 and $50 for each PI after that. This includes a telephone consultation(s) where we discuss the PI’s of candidates, so you are fully informed on the best candidates.

If you are local and want HR LINK to handle the entire process, the fee could range from $450 to $1000. Lesser costs would be for more clerical or entry level openings; higher fees would be for professional level positions.

Doing Things Right

This retailer had a very successful business going and about eight employees. Most of their staff decisions were a "shoot from the hip" and they did not have written policies and procedures.

The first step was to do the employee handbook. While in this process we had discussions about what they wanted and we could lay out several alternatives for them to make choices from. For instance they didn’t know exactly how they wanted their vacation plan to work and after hearing several options and the pros and cons of each, they were able to choose what was best for them. Each client has its own set of needs that might be unique to them. (One size doesn’t fit all.)

After we finished the employee handbook, we turned to hiring practices. They were good interviewers and savvy about people, but occasionally they got the lemon employee, or the person who was a big disappointment in not doing the important things in the job.

We began to utilize Predictive Index, the personality instrument which matches the candidate with the job. We have been able to get much better job fits since then. They are such big believers in this they use it on every hire.

While we haven’t ruled out all the "lemons," it certainly has allowed most of them to go into "lemonade" somewhere else.
